Can an extension of a temporary TRP in Ukraine be refused?
Yes, extension of a temporary residence permit may be refused on the same grounds as at initial issuance: link to the full list of refusal reasons.
What is the difference between extending and exchanging a temporary TRP in Ukraine?
Since 2018, the term “extension of a residence permit” is not used in Ukrainian legislation. Previously, the temporary residence permit was issued in a booklet form, where a stamp with a new validity period was placed on one of the pages upon extension.
Now, each time upon extension, replacement, change of data, etc., a new residence permit card is issued, and the old card is withdrawn. That is why the procedure in the legislation is called “exchange of a residence permit,” not “extension,” since the TRP card is replaced with a new one.
How to replace a TRP in Ukraine?
If your temporary residence permit has been lost, stolen, damaged, etc., the replacement procedure is no different from an exchange or extension. A new residence permit ID card will be issued to replace the lost TRP, and the lost document will be canceled.
