Briefly on termination of Ukrainian citizenship
1) The basis for termination of the Ukrainian citizenship is the receipt from the authorities of another country of a document on registration of the citizenship of this country, in case of relinquishing the citizenship of Ukraine.
2) An application for renunciation of citizenship is submitted to the Embassy/Consulate of Ukraine abroad and is considered for about a year.
3) Stages of withdrawal from Ukrainian citizenship:
- Issuance of a permit for permanent residence abroad from Ukraine to the country where you are applying for citizenship;
- Registration for permanent consular registration at the Embassy/Consulate in the relevant country and submission of documents for renunciation of citizenship.
It is impossible to leave the citizenship of Ukraine at your own request, if you have not completed all the above-mentioned stages and have not received a document from the second state with a decision to grant you citizenship.
Also, the state authorities of Ukraine do not practice compulsory revocation of Ukrainian citizenship, even if you independently declare the circumstances that provide for the loss of Ukrainian citizenship.
