How to choose the right type of visa D for entry into Ukraine?

In this article, we will review the main subtypes of visa D for entering Ukraine.

Understanding which specific subtype needs to be applied for will help you correctly fill out the visa application form and prepare the necessary set of documents for obtaining a long-term visa.

What should you pay attention to first?

The first thing to pay attention to: the code of your visa must correspond to the reason on which you are going to obtain a residence permit in Ukraine.

For example, if you are married to a Ukrainian citizen, you will apply for a residence permit based on "family reunification with Ukrainian citizens." The visa D-14 corresponds to this reason — family reunification with a Ukrainian citizen (on the basis of marriage).

Alternatively, if you are going to Ukraine to work in a Ukrainian company, the residence permit will be based on "employment." In this case, you should apply for a D-04 visa. However, note: if you will be working in a bank, you need to apply for a D-09 visa; if in the representative office of a foreign legal entity — D-08; if in a foreign media — D-11.

If you have received an immigration permit to Ukraine (have the official decision, not just the intention to submit documents), you should select type D-01 in the visa application form.

What are the subtypes (codes) of the long-term D visa for Ukraine?

The list of all visa codes is defined by the Order of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Security Service of Ukraine from 30.10.2017 "On Approval of Requirements for the Organization of Work on Issuing Visas for Entry into Ukraine and Transit through its Territory":
